My first camera proper camera was a Chinon CE4 from Dixons in Southend when I was finishing my Pre-Reg pharmacy training, so I did not do much photography until I moved to Crewe (via Barnsley). At Crewe I became a volunteer at what was then called Crewe Heritage Centre and started steam railway photography. I then joined Crewe Photographic Society and by this time I had changed camera to the Nikon 801 and after two years added a Mamiya 645 using colour slide film and monochrome print film. I took a number of overseas trips for steam railway photography including China, Cuba, Ukraine, Germany and South Africa. In 1999 I moved to the pharmacy at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton and joined Wolverhampton Photographic Society. My interest in steam railway photography continued with return trips to China and South Africa. I eventually changed to digital and in 2009 and went to the Mara in Kenya on my first safari. Since then I have been on safari to Tanzania, Botswana and Zambia. My main interest is now wildlife photography including macro photography – wildlife is not just photographing large animals and birds! In addition to wildlife photography I go to Cosford air show and RIAT at Fairford and enjoy photographing the aircraft in flight. I also do some sports photography – mainly at the Essington and Willenhall rugby clubs.
